The Lacey Township Recycling Center, located behind the Municipal Building, has evolved into quite a comprehensive facility. It's not just paper, cardboard and the container items that everyone is used to placing at the curb for pickup.
But there are now bins to properly dispose of items ranging from leaves, brush and branches to televisions and computers. The township forwards electronics to a company that separates the components and routes the materials and parts back into the manufacturing stream.
The brush and branches are a two way deal. The town mulches these. And residents can help themselves to free mulch whenever it is available.
Items that have traditionally been a problem to get rid of can now be brought to the center. These
Household as well as car and boat batteries can also be dropped off at the Lacey Center. If you're unsure about any items you're looking to get rid of, be sure to call ahead and check first. Illegal dumping of the wrong items can carry a stiff fine. The center's number is 609-693-1100, ext. 2301. More information on the Forked River location is on the township website.
If the Lacey facility can't handle it, there are other available recycling locations in Ocean County. You can also find more information on those on the township site here. Remember, if you're unsure, ask first. The Lacey facility couldn't be more convenient. It's located of course, off Lacey Road. Just turn down Municipal Lane on the west side of the municipal building. It's just a few hundred yards down the road. |
